ONE SMALL VICTORY IN THE WAR FOR OUR EXEMPTIONS!
Sensing schools might attempt to misapply the law regarding the exclusion of students with vaccine exemptions during times of declared emergency, last month TFVC proactively asked Rep. White to submit an Opinion Request to the Office of the Attorney General so the policy could be clarified.
On Tuesday, it was brought our attention that Kilgore College was the first offender of such a misapplication of the law (see screen shot from Tuesday). We are happy to report that since our post and action alert, Kilgore College has brought their policies back in line with the appropriate and historical application of the statute! We appreciate their prompt action (see screen shot from Thursday, and a statement from Kilgore College below)!
NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO RELAX!
While we might have won a small battle, the war is intensifying! Not only are we still waiting for a response from Attorney General Ken Paxton, but we anticipate more schools will attempt to take advantage of the vagueness of the statute’s wording by attempting to remove the medical rights of their students.
Our commitment to you remains. We will work around the clock to report and remediate violations of your right to informed consent, medical privacy and vaccine choice. We commit to use the full force of the legal system to force any school into compliance with the legislative intent of the law.

“Kilgore College has been abiding by the public health emergency provisions of Texas Education Code 51.9192(d)(d-1) during the COVID-19 pandemic. After discussions at the state level, we have reinstituted the students’ ability to waive/conscientiously object to the admissions requirement of receiving a bacterial meningitis vaccine. My sons school is requiring vaccinations in order to be able to attend school next year. Is there a form I can fill out to where he doesnt have to take any more. I have seen too many side effects with vaccinations and would rather not have my sons take them unless they have to.
Tiffany- Is this a public/charter school who is telling you this? Or a private school?
We recently moved to a small town in East Texas. I went to register my kids for public school today and was told they cannot attend in-person learning because we are vaccine exempt. Sadly my kids were looking forward to starting a new school next month, and will have to do it online. How is this possible with the Texas vaccine exception form? And is there a way to fight it? Parents have a choice in sending their kids to school, or doing in home learning. How come I don’t have a choice because I chose not to vaccinate my kids?

Hi! I am wondering the best way you have seen for actual healthcare workers to get vaccine exemptions… personal or philosophical, medical diesn’t quite spply to me… The flu shot is mandatory where I work and I do not want it, let alone the possible covid vaccine coming… do you have suggestions?

Hi – my son will be starting at Le Tourno University this coming January. Everything looks good except they require either proof of vaccine, proof of antibodies, or a negative PCR test within 72 hours of arriving. Is this an enforceable requirement? We believe he has antibodies, but do not believe he has to prove anything.
